Open Dreams
Open Dreams is a college preparation non-profit that provides educational opportunities to low-income, high-achieving high school students from developing countries. We believe that education is the key to unlocking everyone's potential. But unfortunately many children in countries across Africa and other parts of the developing world do not have access to a good education that their peers in the developed world do.
In order to bridge this educational and achievement gap, Open Dreams carefully select high school students who have the potential to become Africa's future leaders and provide them with the platform necessary to apply to university in the U.S. Students are selected based on their leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, academic achievement and commitment to service. Through our Open Dreams Center in Bamenda, Cameroon, we provide access to resources including Internet, computers, SAT & TOEFL preparatory materials and tutoring classes that introduce Western style of education to our mentees. We also pay for their registration fees to take all required standardized exams needed for college.
Our support also include a mentorship and volunteering placement program which broaden the social and professional perspectives of our students, as well as giving them a chance to hone their leadership skills by engaging in community service.
