WAAW Foundation
WAAW Foundation is a 501(c) non profit organization (EIN 20-8576703) headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria with offices in Abuja,Nigeria and Plano, Texas USA. Our mission is to empower girls in Africa by increasing the pipeline of girls educated in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields, and to encourage their engagement in technology, entrepreneurship and innovation to benefit Africa. WAAW Foundation provides College Scholarships, organizes STEM residential camps, after school clubs, weekend workshops and a coding school. WAAW also provides STEM teacher training, STEM-in-a-bag portable computer labs and science kits for secondary schools.
Through its bi-annual regional summit, WAAW trains and mentors over 120 University fellows each year, and operates 17 STEM outreach and mentoring chapters in University campuses across 10 African countries ( including Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Togo, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi and South Africa) impacting over 10,000 African girls each year. WAAW Foundation was named the 2016 winner of the GEM Tech Awards from ITU and UN Women.
